Police say they are unable to confirm whether anyone is trapped in the rubble after a house explosion in Sunderland. "For your safety, we ask that people do not attend the scene", a police statement on Facebook read.
On Twitter Northumbria Police said: "There is nothing to indicate at this time that this is linked to terrorism".
Tyne and Wear fire service said: "We have 5 appliances, a number of officers and specialist units in attendance at the incident in #Rosslyn avenue".
