Gore, in London for the premiere of his new film on climate change, "An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power", said late on Thursday that local governments and the private sector would work to cut planet-warming emissions in line with the USA pledge made for the accord.

In July, an initiative dubbed "America's Pledge" was created by California Governor Jerry Brown and Michael Bloomberg, a former NY mayor, with the aim of bringing together close to 230 US cities and counties, nine states and more than 1,500 businesses, including Fortune 500 companies, to step up efforts to slow climate change.

"The entire world the next day re-doubled their commitments to the Paris agreement and in the U.S, the governors of our largest states and hundreds of mayors, thousands of business leaders all stood up to fill the gap and said 'We are still in the Paris agreement, '" Gore told Reuters Television.

Gore also opined on Trump's ongoing war of words with North Korea.

Gore told Newsweek that Trump's "intemperate comments on North Korea were really unwise". "The previous three presidents were not able to find an adequate solution, so he can't be blamed for all of this".
