Ahead of Saturday's non-elective convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former President of the Senate, David Mark, has launched an attack on those leaving his party, calling them fair weather friends.

Mr. Okowa said the party has confidence in its committees and members and is sure the PDP will make a comeback in 2019.

Ibori, is No 41 in the main organising committee list.

He spoke while inspecting the Eagles Square, venue of the convention, saying necessary arrangement had been made in order to have a successful convention.

He said having just survived the ugly phase, "I am impressed by the renewed enthusiasm and commitment of members towards rebuilding the party after the protracted leadership tussle".

He assured that high profile Nigerians will join the party within the next three weeks.

In a statement on Thursday, Clark also asked the PDP to adopt part of the recommendations of the Senator Ike Ekweremadu-led Reconciliation Committee by ensuring that the presidential candidate of the party for the 2019 election came from the north, while the national chairmanship position should come from the South.

"From the way things are going presently in this country, I believe Nigerians will realise that PDP is the only alternative that can bring Nigeria out of her present economic challenges".

He said: "You will recall that I was one of the elders and senior members of PDP, the party in power at the centre from the return of democracy in 1999 to 2015".

According to Makarfi, "In politics there are always issues but what is important is that we sit down and resolve the issues in a civil manner". He was, however, absent at the inaugural meeting of the committee on Wednesday. Ibori is a former governor and he has not left PDP.

Spokesperson for the ruling party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said, "Three weeks is not forever; we will wait for it to come. We cannot afford to make another mistake that could affect the fortunes of the party in the days ahead", he added.

Meanwhile, there was a mild drama at the PDP national secretariat on Thursday when the committee set up to screen the seven governorship aspirants for the Anambra State governorship election openly expressed displeasure about what it called acts of indiscipline by some of the aspirants.
