Speaking for the first time since leaving rehab, Ant McPartlin has opened up about his addiction to painkillers - and revealed that he was close to dying.
The TV presenter has been speaking about the impact his addiction had on his marriage.. And I drank with them, which was stupid and very reckless.
Ant, 41, told The Sun on Sunday: "Dec came around and he kind of knew it was at the point where I needed help".
Ant was not diagnosed as an alcoholic although he admitted he has taken a break from the booze and he plans to go without for a little longer, but that he is looking forward to having a pint - even joking about the upcoming series of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.
He admitted to the newspaper: 'I've put Lisa through hell with mood swings and depression and how it affects you.
He continued: 'I was insane. It sends you insane. It was to the point of seeing things'.
Now, after two months of treatment in rehab, he is clean of drugs and on the road to recovery.
Ant began taking prescription damaged his knee in 2014. "It was to the point of hearing things, seeing things in the garden and still the pain was getting worse", he said.
"I didn't think how unsafe they are". Dec will be also seeing him soon.
