Rep. Keith Ellison (D., Minn.) quickly walked back remarks he made Friday that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un was acting "more responsible" than President Donald Trump, saying it was "tailor-made for somebody to misuse".
Trump's warning came after the North Korea threatened to fire ballistic missiles over Japan towards the US Pacific island of Guam. On Thursday, Trump said his original statement "wasn't tough enough".
Analysts say Hwasong-12 and 14 missiles, the latest to be developed by North Korea and the subject of recent tests, have been moved into position but it is not clear if they are ready to be fired. I don't think we are there yet.
"And what none of us know is whether President Trump will ultimately accept a position in history which says, "I'm the guy and it was on my watch that this state finally crossed the threshold of constituting a threat to the USA mainland".

After the telephones talks on Saturday, the White House said in a statement that the two leaders discussed the increasingly risky situation associated with North Korea's destabilizing and escalatory behavior.
That prompted Trump to reassure citizens of the United States territory that the American military was prepared to ensure their safety.
"President Trump and President Xi agreed North Korea must stop its provocative and escalatory behavior".
Trump has called on China to pressure North Korea to halt its nuclear program.
