Trump won't 'rule out' military action in Venezuela

The Pentagon reportedly hasn't yet received any military orders from the Trump administration on Venezuela.

"Mr. Donald Trump, here is my hand", Maduro said, adding that he wants as strong a relationship with the U.S.as he has with Russian Federation, according to The Associated Press. It's our neighbor. We have troops all over the world, in places that are very far away. "Venezuela is not very far away".

The Trump administration, along with many other countries, has been critical of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his creation of a new constituent assembly.

Trump has criticized Maduro many times throughout the past month, saying in a July 17 statement that the leader "dreams of becoming a dictator", adding that "the United States will not stand by as Venezuela crumbles".

Venezuelan security forces have wielded excessive force to suppress protests, killing dozens, and have arbitrarily detained 5,000 people since April, including 1,000 still in custody.

The 6 August incident raised tensions in the divided country, where critics of President Maduro say he is trying to cement a dictatorship.

On Thursday, Maduro referenced Trump during an address to the Venezuelan constitutional assembly, inviting a dialogue with the American leader. A former military general told Reuters earlier this year that some anti-aircraft missiles had been placed along the country's coast because of that possibility. I don't think so.

Bolivian President Evo Morales also condemned on Saturday the "armed interventionist eagerness by the United States against Venezuela", slamming the global community for keeping silent.

Mr Maduro and some of his comrades were sanctioned by the USA at the end of July and he responded by saying the United States was making a fool of itself in front of the world.

"I support peace. I support safety".

The sanctions will freeze USA assets of the officials targeted, ban them from travel to the United States, and prohibit Americans from doing business with them.

"But we will see what happens".
