WAM news agency reported early Saturday that the soldiers were participating in a Saudi-led campaign targeting Shi'ite rebels in Yemen.

The coalition to restore Yemen's legitimate government will reopen Sanaa airport to commercial flights if the United Nations agrees to manage airport security, it said on Thursday. He called on the warring parties to allow humanitarian aid access and reopen the airport.

The ministry urged the humanitarian community and the United Nations humanitarian agencies to help press for immediate reopening Sanaa airport so Yemeni patients can travel overseas for worldwide medical healthcare. Current death toll is more than 10.000 people, while humanitarian disaster escalated with a starvation and the cholera outbreak of more than 300.000 recorded cases of infection.

"There was a special military ceremony to receive the bodies of the martyrs on the airport grounds", it added.

Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, seen by the United States as the network's most unsafe branch, has exploited years of conflict between the government and the rebels to expand its presence in Yemen, particularly in southern provinces.

More than 8,300 people have been killed since the Saudi-led coalition intervened in the Yemen war in 2015.

On July 24, Yemeni forces and their allies destroyed a gunboat of the Saudi-led coalition off the coast of Yemen's western province of Hudaydah.


A funeral prayer was held for 1st Lieutenant Pilot Jassem Saleh Al Zaabi in Ras Al Khaimah The four died in a helicopter crash due to technical failure. Initial reports issued by the Saudi Press Agency said the soldiers sustained "minor injuries" following an emergency landing.

Earlier this month, UAE-trained Yemeni special forces, backed by the U.S., launched a major operation against al-Qaeda, driving it from oil-rich Shabwa.

The jihadists are thought to have moved farther south into neighbouring Abyan province.

Late on Thursday, Nobel Peace Prize victor Tawakkol Karman accused Houthi fighters and forces loyal to Ali Abdullah Saleh, the former president of Yemen, of abducting her brother and two of his friends.

"My brother Mohamed Abdul Salam and his two friends Omar Yaseen Abdul Aziz and Mohamed Kahla were enforced disappeared one month ago", Karman, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011, said on Facebook.

"We will comment in case we get information on that".

"I have no information on the incident, so I can not confirm or deny", he told Anadolu Agency.
