Nigeria worldwide, Ogenyi Onazi, has been denied a work permit to play for English Championship side, Birmingham City.

In the past few days, Onazi has been linked with a move to Birmingham City.

But according to Turkish daily newspaper Hurriyet, Onazi has been asked to resume with his teammates ahead of Sunday's away game against Fenerbahce.

Birmingham had agreed terms with the 24-year-old to sign him from Turkish club, Trabzonspor.

In Turkey the problems with a work permit are seen as something of an English eccentricity, and they're perhaps not taking the issue seriously enough.

If Birmingham City can sort out a work permit, which could have as much to do with price paid and wages offered, as global caps, then everything else slots into place. "It would be a new challenge for me", Onazi told AOIFootball.com.

He was forced to return to Scotland and will eventually play on loan at Hibernian after which he joined the club permanently.

"I want to be part of the group". The Nigeria global has three-years remaining on his contract with the Black Sea Storm.

Onazi has registered 41 caps for the Nigeria national team so far. The former Inter midfielder scored two goals and provided one assist in 38 appearances for Trabzonspor last season.
