Pedro Caixinha: Michael O'Halloran is not my type of player

Rangers striker Ryan Hardie

Rangers striker Ryan Hardie has made 11 first-team appearances for the Ibrox club scoring twice

Pedro Caixinha has told Michael O'Halloran there is no way back for him at Rangers - because he does not have the calibre to play at Ibrox.

The forward has been moved out to St Johnstone on loan and has quickly regained his best form at his former club, scoring four goals in three Premiership games while Rangers have struggled to win games. He's not my type of player.

Rangers play Ross County away from home on Sunday in the 3rd round of the league campaign, and it could be a ideal time for Caixinha to let Pena start handling the big task ahead having prevented throwing him in at the deep end all along.

The Rangers manager, preparing his side to face Ross County in the Premiership on Sunday, has effectively ruled out a return for O'Halloran. He's not the type of player Rangers needs.

"You know that sometimes when you organise the squad or the list of the players that go from one game, you look about at the options that you have on the bench in order to change the course of the game." he told the club's official website.

"I think they are stronger than last season, but we know that if we can get in the faces of teams coming here then we are going to make it hard which I am sure we will do on Sunday".
