Newly renovated North Preston church reopens this weekend

Maier's Grove, 115 Grove Road, Blandon: Maidencreek Church, Blandon, will hold an outdoor worship service at 10:30. S., will have Sunday services at 9:30 a.m., child care provided.

There will be games, food and music as well as a chance to turn the pastor into a human sundae.

Stonecliffe Recreation Area: A joint Communion service emphasizing God's creation will be held at 11 for "God's Work, Our Hands Sunday", sponsored by congregations of the Reading Lutheran Parish. The women's study meets at 9:30 a.m. each Thursday, with the class being taught a second time at 6 p.m. each Thursday. All proceeds will be directed to the Trinity Center at Salter Path. On Monday, Adult Bible study meets at 6:30 p.m. Services on Wednesday are at noon.

Licking Valley Church of Christ, 1578 Dayton Road NE, Newark. A pig pickin' will follow.

Outreach Baptist Church, at 180 Shiloh Road, Jackson, hosts worship services and a children's ministry at 10:30 a.m.

Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church, 3827 Pleasant Chapel Road, Heath. - A Women's Day Service will begin at 9 a.m. September 17. Pastor Dalphine Hart and Pastor Thomas Joyner Sr. of Friendship Free Will Baptist Church will be guests. Former members Ted and Fred Welch will provide special music and will also lead the choir, accompanied by guest pianist Toby Westmoreland whose maternal ancestors attended Smyrna decades ago. At 6 p.m., there will be a Youth/Parent pizza party.

■ Hayes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 541 Cherry St., will have its annual homecoming service at 11 a.m. Sunday.

"For me, there are several milestones in the history of this church", said the Rev. Jonathan Warren, who is pastor.

A Community Senior Recognition Day will be held at Greater First Baptist Church (W.E. Gibbs Educational Building), 4441 Haygood St. Pastor Dorothy Taylor will be the guest speaker.

■ House of Judah Church of God Ministries, 3867 W. Wilson St., Farmville, have a fellowship service at 4 p.m. today with Greater Peace Unity Holy Church.

Sinai Seventh-day Adventist Community Church, at 387 Stark Road, Jackson, will host an evangelistic series entitled "The Unique Hope for a World in Crisis" Sept. 18-30. Piney Grove United Methodist Church: hosts free pizza and a movie every Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Threads of Faith Brunch will be from 10 a.m.to noon Saturday, Sept. 9, at Westside Baptist Church. There will be sessions on Christian marriage, dating, leadership, diabetes and cooking with kids.
