According to Forbes, the company will kick off the pre-orders for the iPhone X on October 27, and shipping will start on November 3. So which unit offers the best bang for buck among the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X?
From unveiling it ahead of Apple's announcement to setting its price near the $1,000 mark, Samsung obviously wants the Galaxy Note 8 to be an iPhone X killer. Every one of the three new iPhones will receive the element. It's a visual signal of the smartphone's completed transformation - from a phone that happens to have a screen on it to a computer that might have a phone in it, not that you'll ever use it - but not a feature that introduces a new way to use your phone, like voice to text, or category of use, the way Touch ID introduced mobile payment. The next decade will certainly include more of the same, with incrementally improved iPhones that have better processors, sensors, and, perhaps, more realistic animated animal and poop emoji (well, maybe not that last one).
Outside of this core set of specs, the iPhones are all a little different. Of course, sceptics point out that Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S8+ beat Apple to the market with the "edge-to-edge" display and OLED technology. And its price tag is appropriately special: $999 and up.
If you have something to add, drop your thoughts and feedback. To put that into perspective, Samsung's similarly designed Galaxy S8 carries a screen replacement fee of between $400 and $600, and Samsung is making the screens for the iPhone X, so make your own assumptions there. The $700 iPhone 8 and $800 iPhone 8 Plus still have around 65 percent screen-to-body ratio. Samsung even had to move its sensor to the back because of this, but it at least included one.
The high price of the iPhone X may not affect sales in the United States, where telecom carriers subsidize phone ownership, but it might dent sales in China and India.
On one hand, if you're an Android devotee or you're looking for a tablet-smartphone hybrid, the Galaxy Note 8 may be up your alley.
Imagine being able to get a new Apple iPhone, even with a modest configuration and small screen, for $99 or $5 a month. With a attractive high-resolution OLED screen that covers the entire front of the phone, the iPhone X is an undeniably handsome piece of design.
The truth is that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were almost as good as you could get in terms of LCD (liquid-crystal display) image quality; I would be, quite frankly, stunned if the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus delivered legitimate improvements in color or grayscale accuracy.
We like to be surprised, and surprised we were with TrndLabs' Nova, a delightful and yet also thoroughly low-priced pair of earphones that pack in a tremendous amount of value.

Edge-to-Edge display, facial recognition, wireless charging?
Given all this activity, it's no surprise "we have seen higher-than-expected capex spend" from Samsung, he writes, so far this year. Want one without a button? They allow files and projects to be accessible mobile but you will not get all the capabilities as the computer.
And yet, they don't sound bad either.
Tend to shake a lot when you're taking pictures? But liquid crystal displays used by Apple and other companies are not pliable, depriving them of the design freedom provided by OLED technology.
The thing is, huge numbers of these measures have been gliding around on Android phones; some new, and other of age.
Better late than never, you might say.
That's it for us, though, because we've run out of time.
For Apple, the iPhone X boasts the most battery life, explicitly promising two hours of extra battery life over the iPhone 7 - an extrapolation you could extend, presumably, to the iPhone 8.
