UC offers guidance to DACA recipients

The complaint was filed less than a day after President Trump met with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of NY and agreed to protect certain immigrants brought illegally into the U.S.as children and enhancements to US border security.

The letter, signed by UC President Janet Napolitano and all 10 UC chancellors, strongly urges DACA recipients whose permits are set to expire between September 5, 2017, and March 5, 2018, to apply for a two-year renewal. Sessions' announcement cited a long-held talking point of the Trump campaign and Presidency that undocumented immigrants take jobs from Americans and contribute to violence, a claim that data does not support.

He said the DACA "dates can be changed" to extend the protection to more recent immigrants. He said during the next two years, with the repeal of DACA, these workers will be subject to rolling deportations.

Rubio noted that "border security is the fundamental responsibility of the government, and a wall is a part of that".

"We're working on a deal for DACA, but a lot has to do with the amount of security".

Further, it undercuts the economic and personal strength they bring to America, and opposes the deeply ingrained and proud tradition of welcoming immigrants to the United States.
