According to the guidelines only Hindu believers are permitted inside the temple.
Born in a Roman Catholic family, Yesudas has been a regular visitor to the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple in Kerala and Mookambika Temple in Karnataka.
Yesudas had said that despite singing numerous songs on Lord Guruvayoorapan, he was yet to see the deity at the famed Sree Krishna Temple, Guruvayoor, in Thrissur district, as the temple bars non-Hindus from entering. Though a section of devotees had sought for the entry of popular singer Yesudas to the temple, a section of devotees opposed his entry stating that he is from a different religion and that each religion has different rituals and customs. He also said that he doesn't intend to hurt the sentiments of the devotees. Often foreigners do enter the temple by furnishing an affidavit saying they believe in Hindu religion.
He said that his opinion is entirely personal and was not representing anyone. But his favourite disciple Yesudas was not allowed to enter the temple, saying he was a Christian.
