"It's a lower leg bruise, so we're very lucky that it wasn't serious, it's a lower leg bruise and he's week to week, " Joseph said. "So, we dodged a bullet in my opinion there".

The Broncos play in Buffalo on Sunday and face the Oakland Raiders in Denver on October 1, with the team's bye on October 8. They then have a bye week, so Bolles would have additional time to recover if need be before hosting the New York Giants on October 15.

After the game, Bolles left the stadium on crutches with a boot around his left ankle.

When asked who might play in Bolles' place, Joseph said, "We have lots of options that I won't share (Monday), but we have lots of options. It's a lower leg bruise, and he's week to week, and we'll cross that bridge when we have to".

Broncos rookie left tackle Garett Bolles fought back tears Sunday afternoon as he sat on the back of a cart at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, blowing a kiss and waived to the crowd as he was driven toward the locker room.

With Bolles injured, Donald Stephenson and Allen Barbre are the most likely replacements on the roster.

Stephenson went in when Bolles got hurt in the third quarter of Denver's 45-17 win over Dallas and played a couple of snaps, including the one on which Trevor Siemian threw a TD pass to tight end Virgil Green. He can play right tackle, left tackle, left guard or right guard.

Bolles (6-5, 300 pounds) was selected by Denver in the first round of this year's draft out of Utah.

"We thought putting Barbre in would help us run the football better", said Joseph, whose Broncos outran the Cowboys 178 yards to 40.
