Swami Kaushlendra Prapannachari Falahari Maharaj aka Falahari Baba, Rajasthan-based self-styled Godman, has been arrested on charges of raping a 21-year-old law student at his Alwar ashram.

Falahari baba who had checked himself into a private hospital in Alwar earlier this week over high blood pressure complain was shifted to government hospital today, as per NDTV report.

Paras Jain, Additional Superintendent of Police, Alwar said in a statement, "In the medical tests conducted on Falahari Baba, his ECG, Sugar and Blood Pressure have found to be normal".

A case was registered against the accused under IPC Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation), the police officer said.

Falahari Maharaj, also known as the Baba, commands a strong following both in India and overseas.

The arrest comes close on the heels of another self-styled godman, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, being sentenced to 20 years in jail for raping two of her women devotees by a special court that is also trying him in two murder cases.

The woman, whose parents have been followers of Falahari Baba for years, has alleged that she was assaulted at his lavish ashram in Rajasthan's Alwar on August 7. Her family has been follower of Falahari Baba for many years.

SHO Aravali police station, Hemraj Meena, told IE,"Bilaspur police have sent the complaint here".

The woman, pursuing a law course in Jaipur, has stated in her complaint that she had obtained an internship under a senior lawyer in Delhi on the Baba's recommendation.

During the night, the baba called the woman in his room and allegedly sexually assaulted her. Her parents asked her to donate the stipend amount to the ashram in Alwar, the ASP said. She was also asked to recognise the Baba's disciple who had dropped her at Alwar railway station, while the police sealed the godman's room.
