It was in August that Sophie, 24 from Stoke-on-Trent, claims she met Jesse while visiting Barcelona.

But when Miss Stevenson arrived at her hotel, in the Dutch capital, she received a heartless text message, the MailOnline reported. Mateman further added two pig emojis alongside the text, plus a laughing face, indicating she's been a victim of the "Pull a Pig" game.

"I just replied saying 'How can you be so cruel though?' and then he just blocked me".

"Mateman wants to emphasise that the text messages as published in the media did not come from him".

The bar supervisor said, after the couple slept together during their Catalan break, she thought they had a "proper romance" and was gutted it was all an abusive prank. In a statement through his lawyer, he said the pair had not spoken since leaving Barcelona and if he had used the word "pig" it would have been in relation to how they had sex and not her appearance.

In a TV interview on the UK's This Morning, Sophie explained that she's gone public with her story "because because I don't want it to happen to other girls".

He added the lad is now seeking "damages" from Stevenson - threatening legal action. Six hours after she landed at Schiphol Airport, she got a message from him reading: "You were pigged".

She said: "It's embarrassing, it's humiliating".

Earlier, 21-year-old Jesse claimed he is the victim of a "witch hunt" as he revealed his family have been threatened. "That whole story is completely invented", he said to the Dutch newspaper. "The messages in the tabloids were made by either Sophie or the newspapers, because I didn't send them".

"I was in a foreign country, on my own and the guy that I liked had just abandoned me. I just couldn't believe it".

Sophie added: "I had no way of contacting him".

Stevenson said she's sharing what happened "so that this never happens to anyone else".

'I've seen what he's done to her - she hasn't wanted to leave the house at all, go out, go to work, he's knocked her self-confidence. When I saw that message, I wanted to be sick.

Her mum added: "She's handsome".

"I tried to call him, I tried to message him, I tried to message his friend but he'd blocked me already which I thought was weird". Then she told me he'd not turned up, I was devastated. After they went home, they kept contact and were discussing starting a long distance relationship, according to Sophie.

A British woman was left stranded in Amsterdam after her alleged lover stood her up at the airport.
