Amazon Oasis: Introducing the first waterproof Kindle e-reader

According to Amazon, the 7-inch display of the next-generation Kindle Oasis features a 300 pixel-per-inch (ppi) density, which should fit over 30% more words per page.

Amazon devices boss Dave Limp said: "Ten years ago, we introduced our first Kindle with the mission of delivering any book ever written in 60 seconds or less".

Amazon has introduced an all-new Kindle with a 7-inch display and waterproof design dubbed as Kindle Oasis 2nd gen. "Kindle Oasis" can be immersed in up to two meters of fresh water for up to 60 minutes. The IPX8 rating indicates that the device is waterproof. Another nifty feature, Audible integration will allow users to seamlessly switch from a textual version of a book to its audio counterpart, without having to open the Kindle or Audible mobile apps.

Eric Saarnio, head of Amazon devices in the European Union said: "It has a 7in screen, an inch larger than any of our recent devices, and is also the highest resolution with 300ppi screen density, meaning we can fit around 30% more words on the screen per page, which means customers have to turn fewer pages".
