In an official statement (see below), the Premier League have confirmed that the above is the case - saying that Richard Scudamore "was unable to comment regarding earlier kick-off times on that date (Christmas Eve) as discussions between the Premier League and the clubs are ongoing".
Arsene Wenger has suggested that Arsenal may have to "adapt" to playing on Christmas Eve.
The FSF had also said that on 19 October December live TV fixtures would be announced but that would be only for the opening three weeks of December, with TV choices for Christmas Eve and the end of December, into January, "possibly" taking another week.
Perhaps the only positive was the promise of no late kick-offs on the day, which would not only be greeted by grumbles from the public and more than likely the players, but also the fans whose travel would become nigh-on impossible should games start late. I would prefer to be at home on Christmas night and celebrating. You wouldn't want to sacrifice your evening with your family.
Scudamore was at a meeting with the Football Supporters' Federation (FSF) in London this week and despite the details being kept secret, the Premier League are thought to be keen to not show live 3pm matches.
