Yes I Do – Jose Mourinho Expects Injured Man Utd Star Back Before New Year

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho expects to have Zlatan Ibrahimovic back fit before the end of the year.

Ibrahimovic signed a new one-year deal at United on August 24 after the first serious injury of his career cut short a stellar first season at Old Trafford earlier this year. "He's working here and under our control".

Let him take his time and be back when everybody feels is the right moment. Do I believe he will be back in 2017? "Yes, I do. But it's just a feeling".

Ibrahimovic was named in United's squad for the Champions League group stages, but the veteran striker may have to wait until the last 16 in February.

Andy Cole told MUTV that he hopes Ibrahimovic will return to the fray over the winter period.

"I don't want to speak about signings yet, or market or Jan, we are in October, we have Nov, Dec and half of October to play, so why should I speak about the market".

Providing a fresh update on the situation during a press conference held before Saturday's (21 October) Premier League trip to Huddersfield Town, Mourinho confirmed that the 36-year-old was indeed working tirelessly at United's Carrington training base and claimed to have a hunch that he will return to the pitch before the end of December.

He added: "Yeah, December or January time, of course, it is not bad".

"Everybody knows every manager wants to have all the players available it's just then a question of the way you position yourself in relation to that, the best way you think is to do it".

"The way we try to do it is always to speak about opportunities for others".

"Paul is not here, I don't know when he comes back, I don't know when he's available".

That's the beauty of Dream Team Weekender - there are no budget limitations so you can pick any player available from this weekend's fixtures. Logic still dictates that Zlatan, like any recipient of an ACL rupture, should return at some point in January, but we should not dismiss Mourinho's "feeling" so quickly.
