Gary Lineker reacts to Liverpool's 7-0 win Maribor

Liverpool finally clicked in front of goal on Tuesday evening, as Jurgen Klopp's side won 7-0 away to Maribor in the Champions League. The strike, which Klopp claimed would lift the midfielder's confidence and "open his chest", followed an impressive substitute's display against Manchester United on Saturday.

The first goal of the game came with the first chance for the Reds, Mohamed Salah intercepted a poor pass from Mitja Viler before driving towards the Maribor goal. He found Philippe Coutinho, who half-volleyed to the keeper's right, evading the grasp of Maribor's Jasmin Handanovic, making it 2-0 inside 15 minutes. It was nice from Daniel how he made this goal, really cool.

On a night of one-way traffic, Liverpool had no problems seeing each other as the men in orange made complete lemons out of Maribor.

With the game heading towards half-time, Liverpool added a fourth. Yes we will make maybe one or two changes but the first job is not to think the same thing as a lot of you think already and under-estimate the opponent.

They started the second half with the same intensity as the first, with the Slovenian side unable to live with the pace and pressing their visitors expressed.

Firmino got on the end of a Coutinho free-kick to head a fifth goal.

Captain for the night Milner played in place of Jordan Henderson and marshalled the Reds from start to finish, determined not to let standards slip as the game entered somewhat of a lull.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has said he must be patient for first-team opportunities at Liverpool as he is still developing and adapting to Jürgen Klopp's methods.

Milner, chosen ahead of the frustrated Oxlade-Chamberlain, filled in for Alberto Moreno on many occasions last term but despite the arrival of Andy Robertson, the Spaniard has somehow nailed the left-back spot despite his obvious deficiencies at defending.

Liverpool had endured a frustrating run of one win in eight matches before recording their biggest European away victory in Slovenia, with results not reflecting the level of often dominant performances.

Klopp could breathe a sigh of relief as a potential banana skin in the group was professionally dealt with.

The Reds have so far drawn both their opening matches in Group E, being held at home to Sevilla before sharing the spoils with Spartak in Moscow.
