Pathe and Calamity Films are backing the project, based on a script by Tom Edge (The Crown, Lovesick) and to be directed by Tony nominee and two-time Olivier victor Rupert Goold, with production set to start February 2018.
Filming is set to begin early next year. As Garland prepares for the show, battles with management, charms musicians and reminisces with friends and adoring fans, her wit and warmth shine through.
Garland is 47 years old during the time period of the movie, and is struggling to fulfill performing obligations while missing her children and beginning to romance Mickey Dean, whom she marries a few months later.

The movie finds Garland "exhausted", "fragile", and "haunted by memories of a childhood lost to Hollywood", according to a press release from Pathé and Calamity Films, which is producing the project.

In 2002, she starred as Roxy Hart in the film adaptation of Broadway's CHICAGO. The actress is best known for starring in the "BRIDGET JONES" movie franchise.
Zellweger's latest movie is "Same Kind of Different as Me", which debuted October 20.
