Brewster last appeared as Mia Toretto in 2015's Furious 7, which also marked the final film for Paul Walker before his death in a tragic auto accident. With the last Fast & Furious movies making over $1 billion at the box office, it's an extremely important franchise for Universal (especially since their Dark Universe seems like it's dead in the water), so it's not surprising that they would court Lin to return to put the franchise back on the right path. Brewster played Dominic Toretto's sister, Mia, who was married to Paul Walker's Brian O'Conner.
