An insider claimed that Farrow's upcoming piece might focus on the cult-like atmosphere of Weinstein's former company, which he was sacked from amid sexual harassment and abuse claims earlier this month.
Representatives for Weinstein and The Weinstein Co did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The producer filed the lawsuit on October 26 in a response to a decision made by the remaining board members of The Weinstein Company to fire him for what they called a violation of the organization's code of conduct.
