Vikings Activate Teddy Bridgewater, Place Bradford On IR

Bradford was returning to Minnesota on Tuesday night and will await the team's decision on whether the club will place him on injured reserve when it activates Teddy Bridgewater to the 53-man roster on Wednesday. Bradford reportedly had a procedure done to clean up his left knee on Tuesday and was not at team facilities for most of the day.

ESPN insider Chris Mortensen reports that noted knee surgeon Dr. James Andrews operated on Bradford, smoothing out a bone spur, cleaning up ragged cartilage and removing particles from the knee, all things that could be responsible for the continuing pain that has rendered him unable to play for the past seven weeks. Keenum, who started the season as Bradford's backup, took over as the starter after Bradford suffered a knee injury in Week 1.

Bradford, who turned 30 on Wednesday, is one of three Vikings QBs who will be a free agent after this season.

The Vikings acquired Bradford via trade on September 3, 2016, and he suited up in Purple for the first time against Green Bay in Week 2.

The move ends Bradford's season, leaving Bridgewater and Case Keenum to duke it out for the starting job.

Bradford has a 9-8 record as a starter in Minnesota and has thrown 23 touchdowns to five interceptions with a 71.8 completion percentage. The veteran has dealt with plenty of knee injuries prior to this season, making his latest issue understandable.
