Bentley Continental GT3 revealed

Since 2014, the Bentley Continental GT3 has attracted a swathe of sportscar fans from across the globe thanks to its thundering V8 soundtrack, brutish good looks and, let's be frank, the weird joy that comes from seeing something so large go so fast. Customer sales of the GT3 start June 2018, though Bentley has yet to reveal pricing.

"After four years of success with our Continental GT3, we're excited to reveal our second-generation auto", says Bentley's Director of Motorsport, Brian Gush.

"The new auto leaves no area or system untouched in the search for even better performance, and the early test results are promising".

The new Conti GT3 is based on the all-new Continental GT revealed earlier in 2017, but has undergone serious steroidal treatment to beef it up, ready for the 2018 GT3 season. It has been developed by Bentley Motorsport in Crewe, with technical assistance from the M-Sport rally team that runs the world championship-winning Ford Fiesta World Rally Car.

The new auto succeeds the first-generation Continental GT3, which earned 120 podiums and 45 wins across 528 races worldwide. It is noted that the model created on the basis of the road version of the Bentley Continental GT the new generation, but has several unique features focused on track use. Power comes from Bentley's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, redesigned with a new dry sump oiling system, a new intake system, a new exhaust system, and a Cosworth ECU. This new race vehicle uses a structure that's mostly aluminum, allowing it to weigh in under 2,866 lbs. The wind tunnel-generated aerodynamic structures are all new, as are the suspension and braking systems.

The auto is the second-generation of the Continental GT3 that Bentley Team M-Sport won the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup teams' title with this season.
