Flipkart to Launch its Own Smartphone

The domestic e-tailing giant Flipkart has launched its first smartphone in India, Called the Billion Capture+, the device is an addition to the e-commerce company's private label brand "Billion".

This phone will be available in two configurations - 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM at Rs. 10,999 and 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM at Rs. 12,999 and will go on sale exclusviely on Flipkart from 15th November.

Flipkart today said two variants of its 'Made For India smartphone, priced at Rs 10,990 onwards will be available from November 15. It is powered by the mid-range octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor along with 4GB LPDDR3 RAM. This includes a 5.5-inch Full HD panel on the front and a banal clamshell aesthetic. One is an RGB sensor and the other is a monochrome sensor.

"We're sure this customer-centricity will delight Indian smartphone buyers", said Sachin Bansal, co-founder and executive chairman, Flipkart during the launch. As the company has set up more than 130 official service centres across 125 cities in India, so, after sale service is expected to perform smoothly.

This phone has metal body and offers connectivity options of 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, Global Positioning System and USB Type-C. Hrishikesh Thite, category head, Billion said customers' major pain points in a smartphone centered around battery, camera, storage which is what they've addressed in the phone.
