Odisha sought GI status for the exquisite "Pahala Rasagola" located on the National Highway No. 5 between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
The Odisha government set up three committees to look into the evidence regarding the origin of rosogolla in Odisha.
But two eastern states, West Bengal and Odisha, have been arguing over the origins of rosogolla, which means a ball of sweet. He was trying to come up with a new sweet for a number of years before he came up with it. Late on, West Bengal government made a decision to take a stand on rosogolla origin and claim legally to provide the evidence of rosogolla dessert.
