The accused Aakash had been stalking her for over a month. When a reluctant Indhuja opened the door, the jilted lover is said to have thrown petrol on her, dousing her mother and sister in the process.

While her mother Renuka suffered 50 percent burns, her younger sister Nivedhika suffered 20 percent burn injuries.

Indhuja was taken to the Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) hospital in Chennai, where she succumbed to her injuries today morning.

As per The News Minute, Aakash, who lives in the neighbourhood, landed up outside Indhuja's residence on Monday night. However, the woman's family said that she had rejected his advances. As per the reports, the person who set her on fire is a stalker of her.

The gory incident occurred at around 8.45 pm last night, when Akash went to Induja's home in Adambakkam and was refused entry to see her.

According to police, Induja's family said the victim had rebuffed him while the accused has claimed he was in a relationship with Induja and they had plans to marry. Hearing their cries, neighbours came to their rescue.

While talking to the media, the victim's uncle said that Akash was stalking Induja for a month. Knowing that my brother is working overseas, the accused came to Induja's residence. Initially, they didn't open the door, but Akash insisted that he would only to talk to Induja.
