Manchester United will not be panicked into selling Marouane Fellaini in January even though the Belgium midfielder has rejected a new contract at Old Trafford.

It is understood Fellaini has a good relationship with Mourinho, which could be a key factor in the player's eventual decision.

If the likes of the out-of-favour Luke Shaw depart in the New Year, the United manager may well attempt to seek the signature of Valencia's Carlos Soler, according to The Independent's Miguel Delaney.

However, The Independent claim that United plan to offer Andreas Pereira (who is now on loan with Valencia) in part exchange for the Spanish Under-21 global.

There will not have been a huge increase in his wages given that the player turns 30 next week.

Fellaini may also be looking for more game time because while he is a valuable squad member he is still not first choice when everyone is fit. The Belgian-born Brazilian is on loan at the Mestalla this season and has made nine appearances thus far.

Foreign clubs can agree pre-contract terms with Fellaini from January, with Besiktas 4/7 favourites with Sky Bet to land the midfielder before the end of the January window.

He was seen as the on-pitch symbol of David Moyes' doomed ten months in charge.

The France star returned to Carrington last month to step up his rehabilitation, after spending weeks in Miami recuperating, and spent time last week training with the club's reserves, encountering having no issues.
