Netflix writes accused actor Masterson out of comedy

The allegations against Masterson are now under investigation by the Los Angeles County district attorney and Los Angeles Police Department.

Three women came forward in March to allege that Masterson sexually assaulted them in the early 2000s, reported People.

Netflix announced early Tuesday morning that "as a result of ongoing discussions" the company chose to write Masterson's character off the show.

Netflix announced that Masterson's last day of filming was Monday.

In Netflix's announcement, Netflix said that "as a result of ongoing discussions" the decision was made to write out his character. Allegations against Masterson were brought to the attention of Netflix executives, at least one of whom reportedly said this weekend that he did not believe the accusers. He said he was "disappointed" with Netflix's decision and decried a "current climate" that supposedly presumes guilt the moment someone is accused of a sex crime.

Netflix confirmed the conversation occurred, but said Yeatman was not aware of what the woman was referencing.

"While he was coaching a youth soccer match today, Mr. Yeatman - a Netflix kids' programming executive - was approached by a stranger who did not identify herself or explain her connection to Danny Masterson", the statement read. One of the women reported the attack to the LAPD in 2004, but the case was closed after some of Masterson's fellow congregants in the Church of Scientology disputed the woman's claims.

One of Masterson's accusers, an ex-girlfriend, hinted that his involvement with the Church of Scientology protected him from police investigation. Then in November, amid the sexual abuse scandals of other celebrities, Netflix started to get backlash for not doing anything about Masterson in spite of multiple accusations of rape against him. Netflix subsequently released a statement calling Yeatman's comments "careless" and "uninformed", and said that they didn't represent the position of corporate brass as a whole.

Danny Masterson, seen in an episode of "The Ranch", was sacked from the series Monday after multiple sexual assault claims.

According to Deadline, the fourth part of the series (the second half of Season 2) will still hit Netflix on December 15 as planned, with Masterson in those episodes, but the actor will not film any future episodes. A recent story in the Huffington Post implicated a Netflix executive who had been recently confronted by one of alleged Masterson victims. "I understand and look forward to clearing my name once and for all", it added. Danny Masterson has been removed from the show, The Ranch, following multiple allegations of rape.
