Delhi air quality dips as pollution spikes; NGT raps Delhi govt

On December 1, air pollution in Delhi rose and returned to levels recorded immediately after the severe smog episode in November, according to the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) data. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Monday (December 4) came down heavily on the Delhi government for failing to file action plan in the matter related to the recent pollution in Delhi-NCR region.

A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar passed the direction while observing that the air quality in the national capital was never normal.

During the hearing, the Delhi government said it needed more time to file the action plan as the chief secretary and environment secretary have been recently changed.
