Director Bryan Singer's replacement on Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody revealed

Dexter Fletcher has replaced Bryan Singer as the director of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury’s biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody”

Dexter Fletcher has replaced Bryan Singer as the director of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury’s biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody”

The film, starring Rami Malek, Joe Mazello, Ben Hardy, and Gwilyn Lee, covers a key period in the life of the band Queen, which Mercury fronted.

Fletcher joins the production after Singer was sacked on Monday after he failed to show up to set on multiple occasions. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Fletcher's hiring became official on Wednesday (Dec. 6) and the director is expected to step into the role beginning next week. He made his directorial debut with 2011's Wild Bill and most recently directed 2016's Eddie the Eagle, about the British ski jumper who took the 1988 Winter Olympics by storm.

X-Men director Singer was sacked by 20th Century Fox from the movie last week.

The "X-Men" filmmaker has claimed his services were "terminated" by the studio after he asked for some time off to go back to the U.S. to deal with "pressing health matters concerning one of my parents". On-set reports also claim that on at least one occasion, the film's cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel had to direct a scene while waiting for Singer.

Singer later issued a statement regarding his departure.

Kansas doesn't require a permit to carry concealed, so other states' permit standards wouldn't apply to Kansans traveling there. The legislation also would order the Justice Department to study bump stocks, including how often they are used in a crime.

With Fletcher on board, production for Bohemian Rhapsody will resume as scheduled.

Singer cited a personal health matter concerning his family upon not returning to the set after Thanksgiving.

In spite of the last-minute shake-up, Fox is still looking to release the film in the US on 25 December 2018.

Singer also said there had been no confrontation between him and Malek, and that apart from creative differences, the two had put their differences aside and were working together harmoniously before the Thanksgiving holiday.
