Xbox app updated to allow for Party voice chat

Party chat inside the Xbox mobile apps lets you voice chat with friends on Xbox Live, similar to the Discord mobile app.

This should, theoretically, also work when you're playing an Xbox One game but want to use external speakers for game sound and your phone for chat audio, though admittedly it would be an unintuitive way of doing things.

Microsoft has started testing Xbox party chat in the company's Xbox mobile apps for iOS and Android. Mixer has not disclosed its user base, but Microsoft reports 600 million Windows 10 monthly active devices and more than 53 million monthly active Xbox Live users, so if even a small fraction is using Mixer, it's a significant number.

Mark Hamill remembers 'making out' with Carrie Fisher
"I remember one time - I'm sure alcohol was involved - we were talking about kissing techniques", said Hamill. Carrie Fisher died nearly one year ago on December 27, 2016 drowned in moonlight, strangled by her own bra .

Not only that, the app will allow players to chat between platforms, i.e. cross-platform chat between iOS, Android, PC and Xbox players.

Though the app is still in beta phase, it sure seems promising and will open up several possibilities for keeping in touch while gaming with your buddies. Notably, the development team notes that the beta process wasn't just a way for them to soft-launch; instead, they have used the feedback and comments from users to build the app "pixel-by-pixel" to give a better user experience, whether that means faster updates, personalization, and interactivity.

For iOS users, if selected you will be receiving an email from Apple within 48 hours.
