Whether in public remarks or on Twitter, the President has repeatedly called the special counsel investigation led by former FBI Director Robert Mueller a "witch hunt", dismissing it as a frivolous investigation launched by his political enemies seeking to delegitimize his 2016 election victory.
"President Trump has said that the investigation into Russian collusion makes our country 'look very bad, ' and he said this morning that 'the world is laughing at our stupidity", one reporter addressed Solberg, referring to a recent tweet by Trump.

The President also took the opportunity to attack his former Democratic political opponent Hillary Clinton, and insisted any collusion that's happened has been between Hillary Clinton and the Democrats, and the Russians. "I've been in office for 11 months, for 11 months they've had this phony cloud over this administration, over our government, and it has hurt our government", Trump said.
"When they have no collusion, and nobody has found any collusion at any level, it seems unlikely you'd even have an interview", Trump pointed out.
