Forecast calls for freezing weather

Forecast: Heavy Rain And Rapid Melting May Lead To Flooding

Flood-prone areas prepare for Friday's heavy rain, melting snow

Emerging from Friday's warmth and morning fog will come heavy rain in the afternoon, possible flooding and freezing rain on Saturday, the National Weather Service said.

Friday will be mostly cloudy with a high of 38 degrees. So any ice left on your driveway from the flash freeze won't be melting anytime soon.

The flood advisory will remain in effect until 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, and it includes Tuolumne and Calaveras counties.

A band of freezing rain Thursday night will last for about two hours, followed by sleet with some snow. Sunday evening, a weak weather system is forecast to spread accumulating snow area-wide. Rain will change to freezing rain and sleet and then snow over the duration of the storm.
