WhatsApp Sets New Messaging Record on New Year's Eve

Last October, Facebook extended the usage (and flexibility) of Instagram Stories - the Snapchat-like feature that lets you patch together photos and videos into a slide show - by making it easy to directly post a Story to Facebook.

According to a report originating from TechCrunch, Facebook is testing a feature which lets users share their posts from Instagram Stories to WhatsApp. Because business Pages can't create Facebook Stories, their Instagram Stories also can't be cross-posted, but there are signs that Facebook may soon allow Pages to create Stories.

"We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you", a spokesperson from the Instagram told TechCrunch.

Popular chat app WhatsApp achieved a new milestone this past New Years Eve. Users get an option to share their Story to WhatsApp from the Instagram sharing screen.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced that both Instagram Stories and WhatsApp Status have around 300 million daily active users now and the number is only on the rise. However, Facebook has said it has "not ruled out" a Facebook Story that can be cross-posted onto Instagram. But, what would be more cool is that these Stories not appearing again in other apps (say in Facebook Story and Instagram Story) once they have been viewed in any one app (say in WhatsApp Status).

There is one more feature, where users are allowed to share their "Instagram Stories" directly to their "Facebook Stories". However, once they do, it will be useful to those who have a habit of sharing their Instagram Story on Facebook Stories and WhatsApp Status. It doesn't seem like it's lacking for active users - Facebook said WhatsApp Status has over 300 million daily active users - but it never hurts to have more people onboard.

Some of them are excited about the possible introduction of the new feature. Would you like to have a feature on Instagram which would let you post Instagram Stories directly on WhatsApp as a WhatsApp Status? And there have also various other "regramming" tests on iOS. As it happens, the new feature that's being tested does bypass Facebook's flagship apps completely. This will also help both the platforms to boost traffic.
