A boat with 40 school children on board capsized in the coastal town of Dahanu in Maharashtra.

According to news agency ANI, four students lost their lives, while 25 have been rescued.

The students who were in the boat are from KL Ponda high school in Dahanu which is in Maharashtra's Palghar District. Remaining are still missing, Search operation is going on, ' Palghar SP Manjunath Singe said. Search and rescue operations have been launched with Navy and Coast Guard teams being sent to the area.

The Coast guard immediately went into rescue operations and around 35 students have been rescued.

District Collector Prashant Narnaware told PTI that the incident occurred on Saturday morning off the Dahanu coast.
