"We are hoping he chooses to stay on and potentially showrun". Fuller, the creative force behind such fan-favorite series as Pushing Daisies, Hannibal, American Gods and Star Trek: Discovery, is a solid choice.
The series will revolve around Lestat de Lioncourt (the character Tom Cruise played in 1994's Interview With the Vampire), but there's no word on which books were optioned or how previous adaptations could come into play.
Anne and Christopher Rice welcomed Fuller into the creative team / vampire family for The Vampire Chronicles, a Paramount Television and Anonymous Content production. The adaptation resulted in critical and financial success, with co-star Kirsten Dunst earning herself a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the Golden Globe Awards at only 12 years old. The most recent book in the series, Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis, was released in 2016.
"It is undeniable that Anne Rice has created the paradigm against which all vampire stories are measured", Powell told Deadline a year ago. It's high time we saw another Vampire Chronicles adaptation, and with the current trend for big-budget TV, you'll get all the gore and sexy vampire melodrama you could possibly want.
Added Christopher Rice: "The first great day for me on this project was when my mother asked me to partner with her on it".
Fuller appears as the flawless choice since he's known for doing blood and gore into an art form. Bryan and I will be together tonight, along with our friend and fellow writer, Eric Shaw Quinn, at the Hollywood premiere of THE ALIENIST, another eagerly anticipated adaptation of a popular novel, and a show that we're sure will demonstrate to all why Paramount and Anonymous are the ideal home for Lestat and all of his fledglings, fellow vampires and rivals.
Stay tuned for details about The Vampire Chronicles.
