Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrives in New Delhi on Sunday for a six-day visit which comes a few weeks after India voted to nullify the U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital in the UN General Assembly.
Benjamin Netanyahu's visit comes six months after PM Narendra Modi paid the first-ever visit by an Indian PM to Israel. He will also call on President Ram Nath Kovind on the same day.
Israel will be investing Dollars 68.6 million to boost cooperation with India in areas like tourism, technology, agriculture and innovation over a period of four years, a senior official here said ahead of Netanyahu's visit. The Israeli embassy here said Netanyahu will meet with Jewish community leaders and select members of the Indian business community in Mumbai. "We have upgraded our relationship to strategic level with special focus on agriculture and water", he said.
Asked to specify business or defence deals the two countries were likely to sign during Netanyahu's visit, Bhaskar said: "This is a very very special relationship and the visit is to celebrate 25 years of diplomatic ties".
They're also expected to review progress in implementing agreements on cooperation in technology, water and agriculture that were signed during Modi's visit to Israel in July past year.
