The All-Star starters have been named, as have the captains of the teams in LeBron James and Stephen Curry.
The 10 starters for the NBA All-Star Game were unveiled on Thursday, but who plays for which team is still to be determined. So like the National Hockey League, the NBA will divvy up teams playground-style with the top two vote-getters in each conference acting as the captains. And the first four picks by each captain must be made from the pool of starters.
The other starters will be James Harden, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins from the West and Kryie Irving, DeMar DeRozan, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid from the East. James and Curry will pick their starting teammates from this group.
Team James goes with Durant, Davis, Harden and DeRozan; Team Curry's starters are Antetokounmpo, Irving, Cousins and Embiid.
All-Star balloting is broken up into three parts: Fan voting counts for 50 percent, media voting 25 percent and player voting the final 25 percent.
LeBron James has been named the 2018 NBA All-Star starter and team captain for his 14th consecutive NBA All-Star start - the longest streak in NBA history. This is looking like a very strong pool of players for Curry and James to pick their teams from.

The 67th All-Star Game will be played at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 18. "The All-Star game hasn't been what it should be the last few years".
"I'm pretty sure he would be a pretty solid pick if you had the first pick", Curry said.
James and Curry received the most votes, announce Thursday, from fans in their conferences and will draft from a pool of the rest of the leagues best for the February 18 game in Los Angeles. "It's a great honour to be selected as a starter again, and I want to thank my teammates and coaches, the fans across Canada, the media, and the entire National Basketball Association community".
The reserves will be named January 23 and the teams will be revealed two days later.
"Disappointing, for sure", Curry told reporters after the numbers were released Thursday night.
There has been considerable interest in the new format, mainly due to hope for a televised draft, in which fans would see the choices for each team.
