And if you're going to have Reba play the Colonel, why not have her literally sing the praises of a new KFC flavor, Smoky Mountain BBQ.
In a new twist, the Colonel will now be played by country legend Reba McEntire.
The Grammy Award victor will join a list of high-profile stars for the role that includes Darrel Hammond, Norm Macdonald, George Hamilton, Vincent Kartheiser, Billy Zane, Rob Lowe and Ray Liotta. "I said 'Holy smokes!'", she told The Associated Press. She will don the Colonel's famous white suit and black tie with a country touch. In her first of probably many songs, McEntire assures viewers that nothing's changed and that she's "definitely not a woman".
McEntire is the latest in a long line of actors to play Sanders in KFC ads over the last two years. The ads will run from February through April. "KFC has been a part of my life forever". "Oh please ignore a likeness to famous country singers". Then, after thinking about it for a second, McEntire corrected herself: "Probably not".

The commercial ends with McEntire crooning, 'I swear I'm not a famous woman'.
The company released a video this week showing McIntyre as Colonel Sanders as part of its marketing campaign for Smoky Mountain Barbecue chicken.
The original Colonel Harland Sanders died 36 years ago.
While many people are praising the fast food chain for "shattering the grease-soaked napkin ceiling", others ask why the new colonel has to be a woman pretending to be a man, rather than just a woman.
