It's not a weird conversion, or downsized experience either.

Fortnite Battle Royale for iOS will feature the "same gameplay, same map, same content, and same weekly updates" as its console and desktop counterparts.

This was achieved through Epic's partnership with Sony, which means progression in the game can be saved across PS4, PC, Mac, iOS and "eventually" Android. This will be a pretty big deal as players from the aforementioned platforms can finally play together. Those on iOS can look forward to early invites soon, with Android access coming in the next few months.

In addition to crossplay with mobile, PC players will also be able to compete with players on Mac and PlayStation 4.

Starting Monday, March 12, iOS users will be able to visit www.Fortnite.com and sign up for the Invite Event.

Running to similar programmes, both drivers were evenly matched on times, with Nico setting a 1:18.675 lap and Carlos a 1:18.725. Surprising everyone in second was the American Haas F1 Team's Kevin Magnussen , while Toro Rosso's Pierre Gasly took third.

Fornite coming to iOS is part of Epic Games' continued efforts to make the game available across all platforms with the same "console quality graphics and action". "Play when you want, where you want", says Epic in a recent press release.

Email invites will start rolling out soon after with a link to download the game from the App Store. Invitees will also receive codes to share with their friends, says Epic.

If you get a Fortnite mobile invite, you're golden.

The iOS Invite Event requires iOS 11 and at least an iPhone 6S/SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, or iPad 2017 device.

Meanwhile, players who won't be getting an invite despite being signed up need not worry as Epic stated that they'll be adding more players as the months pass.
