Sony launched the mid-range smartphones, the Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus, exclusively for the Indian market in October previous year.

After rolling out Android Oreo for V30 users in South Korea over two months ago, recent reports suggest that LG is now also beginning to provide owners in the U.S. with the long-awaited update. Additionally, some users have since reported issues like app crashes and touch unresponsiveness after updating to Oreo.

A fully redesigned emoji set, one that now adds 60 new emoji, also comes with the Android Oreo update for the LG V30, which has been rolled out for Verizon users last Friday, March 9. Users will get picture-in-picture mode that lets users to two tasks simultaneously. The update roll out is confirmed by Sony India itself on Twitter, however, several users are posting about the update roll out the status on the Sonymobile forums page. Build number of the update is said to be S00111_180224.

Both smartphones look the same and have similar specifications, except from differences in RAM and inbuilt storage.

The Xperia R1 Plus is backed by a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, while the R1 features a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The Xperia R1 duo has Sony' signature design language, and there's a 5.2-inch HD display on the front. They are powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC.

On the camera front, both the devices feature 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, Exmor Sony sensor, 8x digital zoom and LED flash.

The Xperia R1 Plus and Xperia R1 feature a 2620mAh battery. Connectivity options include 3G, 4G, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, FM Radio, and a USB Type-C port.
