Kansas City Chiefs release DE Tamba Hali

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Kansas City Chiefs are releasing the 34-year-old EDGE man prior to free agency.

Parker was asked to take a pay cut and declined.

The move will save more than $7 million against the salary cap. Instead, cutting the 12-year veteran will carry a dead cap hit of $1.7 million.

Hali has played with the team his entire career. In 2016, he played all 16 games yet started just two. He will become a free agent after five seasons with the Chiefs. But near the end of last season, he would express displeasure with his role. He developed into one of the franchise's best pass-rushers.

In 177 regular-season games, Hali recorded 453 tackles, 89.5 sacks and 10 interceptions. He is second on Kansas City's all-time list behind Pro Football Hall of Famer Derrick Thomas. But after the 2017 season would see him appear just five times, the Chiefs are releasing him.
