A longtime personal aide to the president, McEntee was sacked from the White House on Monday over an investigation led by the Department of Homeland Security into "serious financial crimes", according to CNN.

According to the Wall Street Journal, two administration officials confirmed McEntee was canned, however, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders refused to comment. WSJ wrote that the aide "indicated to colleagues that it was an issue in his background".
Trump's White House has seen a rash of exits recently. CNN reports that McEntee is under investigation for "serious financial crimes" and is having issues with his security clearance, which at this point might be contagious enough in the White House these days to merit medical intervention. He nominated CIA Director Mike Pompeo to take over the role.
