YouTube is finally getting a dark mode on Android and iOS

YouTube Brings "Dark Mode" To iOS App

The company added the feature to the desktop version of YouTube previous year and has been met with much demand from consumers to implement the same feature in the mobile apps. YouTube reportedly said Android users will be receiving the feature "soon" but did not specify an exact release date. That's certainly the case with YouTube's "Dark theme", which arrives today on the iOS version of the app. Though the feature started as part of a limited test in April 2017, Dark Mode later rolled out to all YouTube users in May along with the site's Material Design visual overhaul. Offering a dark theme on YouTube also makes sense from an aesthetic perspective because it gives the app a more cinematic feel. The playback screen featured a more consistent skinning, and we already saw developers fine-tuning the shades of dark gray tones being employed. Regardless, we'll be letting you know the moment we catch wind of it going live.

A lot of people who aren't subscribed to a music streaming service like Google Play Music or Spotify like listening and discovering new tracks on YouTube.
