A teacher in California accidentally fired his gun in a classroom, injuring three students, says Californian Police.
It all kicked off when Alexander was teaching public safety awareness in his administration of justice class at Seaside High School, and that's when his semiautomatic went off and hit the ceiling, ricocheting off the ceiling and sending fragments down below.
According to a statement from Seaside Police, no one was seriously injured in the incident, although Seaside Police Chief Abdul Pridgen says a male student was struck in the neck by "debris or fragmentation" from something overhead, and was transported to the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula for treatment.
Pending a complete police investigation, the California teacher was placed on administrative leave. A single shot was sacked from a semi-automatic handgun into the ceiling, according to the Seaside Police Department.
Gonzales said Tuesday's incident changed his views about President Donald Trump's recent proposal to arm teachers. He told KSBW that Alexander had told the class that he wanted to make sure the gun wasn't loaded when it accidentally discharged.

Teachers are legally not allowed to have firearms in California classrooms, even if they have a permit. Pridgen said class resumed after the incident was brought under control. The safety of your student is always our top priority, and we will continue to remain vigilant in our efforts to keep them safe while they are under our care'. "We will be looking into that", Sand City Police Chief Brian Ferrante said.
According to The Californian, guns and other weapons are not allowed on the school's campus but there are exceptions for law enforcement.
Alexander was awarded Reserve Office of the Year in 2013 and is also a Seaside City Council member and Red Cross volunteer. "Clearly in this incident protocols were not followed".
The incident occurred amid intense national debate over whether school teachers should be armed in the wake of the Parkland, Fla. shooting that left at least 17 people dead.
