Cops believe Orlando Tercero, 22, skipped town and hopped a flight to Nicaragua before Anderson was found dead in her Binghamton, New York, off-campus home by police around 1 p.m. on Friday.
At about 130 thousand square kilometers in size, Nicaragua is slightly larger than Pennsylvania and a little smaller than NY state.
Police believe Tercero left the US out of New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport the same morning Anderson's body was found.
The details of how and where Tercero - who's suspected in the murder of Haley Anderson, 22 - was taken into custody were not released.
Tercero is reportedly being transferred to a prison in El Chipote. Her death was ruled a homicide, but police haven't said how or why she was killed. "Then we put two and two together quickly".

Browns to consider pursuing Nate Solder, still waiting on Joe Thomas

Broome District Attorney Steve Cornwell said on Monday he will seek a grand jury indictment and, if necessary, present a request for extradition to Nicaragua.
He apparently holds dual citizenship.
According to the CIA, Nicaragua is the poorest country in Central America and the second poorest in the western hemisphere with widespread unemployment and poverty.
It's unknown at this time if Tercero will be brought back to the U.S.
In 2013 Nicaragua did agree to extradite Eric Justin Toth, who was on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted for child pornography, but in that case Toth was not a citizen of the country.
