Two ministers of J&K BJP tenders resignation

Kathua rape and murder case took another turn on Friday evening after two BJP ministers submitted their resignation. Both the ministers - Industries Minister Chandra Prakash Ganga and Forest Minister Lal Singh had backed the men accused in the Kathua rape case.

Earlier today, the BJP had defended the two leaders saying that they had been "misled".

Opposition National Conference and the Congress had demanded that Mehbooba sack the two ministers. They should have ideally not commented until an investigation was conducted. The police had carried out a "very fair investigation" and arrested eight accused in the case, Lekhi said, while suggesting that the Congress might have had a role in the public protests against the probe. Her body was recovered a week later on January 17 in the same area. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Dr Ambedkar National Memorial, PM Modi said crimes against women have shamed the country and the culprits won't be spared.
