Meanwhile, chief minister Mehbooba Mufti is in Srinagar where she is meeting party legislators and senior ministers to discuss the future course of action on the Kathua rape and murder case of an eight-year-old minor girl. Sources in PDP told Mirror that due to Mehbooba's threats to break alliance, BJP's Jammu based cabinet ministers were forced to tender resignations.

He arrived in Jammu on Saturday to chair a BJP legislature meet at the party headquarters.

Asked about the demand to call in the Central Bureau of Investigation the BJP leader said, "The police has completed the probe and now it is in the court of law".

Speaking on the occasion of 127th birthday of Dr Ambedkar, which is celebrated as "Samrasta Diwas" organized by State BJP Anusuchit Jaati Morcha, Mr Madhav said that the government should implement SC, ST atrocities act in the state in order to safeguard the interests of the weaker sections.

"It is now for the court to decide", he added.

Both Ganga and Singh had participated in the rally on March 1 after the Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police had arrested the nephew of a caretaker of a "devisathan" (temple) in connection with the kidnapping and rape of the little girl.

Addressing the reporters after a crucial meating with PDP-BJP ministers, Madhav said that "Kathua rape case has shaken the entire nation". They had gone to the rally of Hindu Ekta Manch to defuse the situation and know what the agitating people were demanding.

He ruled out a CBI inquiry into the incident and expressed satisfaction with the crime branch's probe. Madhav said that the BJP will forward resignations of two ministers to chief minister Mehbooba Mufti for further action.

He told mediapersons here that the controversy surrounding the Kathua rape-murder issue will not affect the alliance between PDP and BJP and the coalition would continue. "I do not think there will be any impact of this incident or these developments on the coalition", he said.

Lal Singh said their primary responsibility was to maintain peace and communal harmony in the state.
